Finding a lawyer took days
Users searched directories, left voicemails and waited for call-backs. By the time an attorney replied, the urgent moment had often passed.
Project Overview
When people in the United States face a legal problem, such as a traffic stop, a tenant dispute or a contract they don't understand, the first hurdle is finding a lawyer. They search online, call several offices and often wait days for a reply, without knowing whether the attorney is licensed or how much the advice will cost.
Attorney Shield’s team wanted to change that. The idea was a single app where anyone can reach a verified attorney in real time, see the price before they connect, and handle simple legal paperwork on their own with ready-made templates. The client also had an aggressive launch date, so the platform had to be built fast without cutting corners on security.
At Code Brew Labs, we built a custom legal services marketplace with a user app for iOS and Android, an attorney panel and an admin panel. Users now go from "I need a lawyer" to talking with a verified attorney in minutes, and the app went live on schedule.
Users searched directories, left voicemails and waited for call-backs. By the time an attorney replied, the urgent moment had often passed.
Online listings rarely showed whether an attorney was licensed, in good standing or experienced in the right practice area.
Many people avoided legal help because they feared a large, unknown bill after the first call.
Basic documents, such as a lease, an NDA or a power of attorney, cost time and fees even when the user only needed a sound template.
Case details, documents and call records needed strong encryption and strict access rules.
The platform had to be designed, built, tested and approved on both app stores on an aggressive timeline.
Our Solution
We developed Attorney Shield as a connected legal services platform featuring mobile apps for users, a dedicated attorney panel, and an admin panel.
Users only see attorneys licensed in their own state
Each attorney is checked against state bar records before going live
Documents organised by state where the law differs
Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay through Stripe
Encrypted chats, calls and documents, with role-based access, designed with attorney-client confidentiality in mind
In-app notices that explain when a template is not a substitute for legal advice
Picks a legal category, such as traffic, family, tenant or business, and adds a short description
Gets a list of verified attorneys licensed in their state who are online now, with ratings and per-session prices
Starts a chat, voice or video call with the chosen attorney
Pays the shown price by card inside the app, with a receipt by email
Downloads or fills in a self-service legal document if the issue needs paperwork
Leaves a rating and review after the session
Development Process
Our development process focused on delivering the core marketplace functionality within the client's launch timeline.
Our team held discovery sessions with Attorney Shield’s team to map the user, attorney and admin journeys and fix the launch date.
We designed calm, trustworthy screens and shared clickable prototypes of the "find a lawyer" and call flows.
We built sign-up, attorney profiles, state-based matching and real-time availability first.
We added chat, voice and video sessions, then connected Stripe for payments and payouts.
We built the template library, guided forms, PDF output and secure storage.
We built onboarding, license checks, earnings and marketplace controls.
We encrypted data at rest and in transit, ran penetration tests and tested calls on weak networks.
We published the app on the App Store and Google Play on the agreed date and supported the client after launch.
One codebase for the iOS and Android user app, built fast to meet the launch date
Attorney panel and admin panel on the web
